Dr. Desai is President of Desai & Desai Inc., a consulting firm founded in 2001 after his retirement from Dow AgroSciences Canada Inc.

Dr. Desai began his career in the agricultural industry with Dow Chemical Canada Inc. in 1974. Dr. Desai was Director of Research and Development, DowElanco and Dow AgroSciences Canada (1990-1998). From 1998-2000 he was Director for Global Biotechnology Research Alliance and Licensing for Dow AgroSciences. Dr. Desai has extensive experience in agriculture as well as international experience in the U.S. and Asia/Pacific. He has been active in the area of plant biotechnology during his career.

Dr. Desai received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Agriculture at the University of Poona, India, in 1965. He completed a Master of Science Degree at the University of British Columbia, Vancouver, Canada in 1969 and obtained his Ph.D. in 1972 at the University of Guelph, Canada.

Dr. Desai serves on several boards and organizations and is currently a member of the Board of Directors of Ag-West Bio Inc. (Saskatoon), Alberta Research Council (Edmonton), PEI BioAlliance (Charlottetown), CAB International (UK) and chairs the Crop Development Centre Advisory Board (Saskatoon).
