Dr. David Drutz has an extensive background in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries, having been VP Biological Sciences and VP Clinical Research at SmithKline & French Laboratories (PA); VP Clinical Development at Daiichi Pharmaceutical Corporation (NJ); and President & CEO of Sennes, Inc, Houston, TX; and Inspire Pharmaceuticals in Research Triangle Park, NC.

He was previously professor of medicine and microbiology and Chief of the Division of Infectious Diseases at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio and has held additional academic medical positions with UC San Francisco (UCSF), the University of Pennsylvania, Temple University and Baylor College of Medicine.

Dr. Drutz is currently President of Pacific Biopharma Associates, LLC, and a General Partner with Pacific Rim Ventures Co., Ltd., a Tokyo-based venture capital firm with a portfolio of international investments in late-stage therapeutics companies. He is a member of the board of directors of a number of both public [MethylGene Inc. (TSX)] and DARA Biosciences (NASDAQ)] and private (Tranzyme Pharma, Inc.; Gentris, Inc., and Vaxin, Inc.) biotechnology companies.

Dr. Drutz is board certified in internal medicine and a fellow of the American College of Physicians (FACP) and the Infectious Disease Society of America (FIDSA). He is also certified by the National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD). He holds B.A. and M.D. degrees from the University of Louisville.
