elcome to Genome Canada's GE3LS webpage.
GE3LS stands for genomics and its related ethical, environmental, economic, legal and social aspects.
GE3LS research complements genomics research by addressing questions that lie at the interface
between science and society. GE3LS research is carried out by academic researchers from an
ever-expanding range of social science and humanities-related disciplines, including: sociology,
law, philosophy, bioethics, religion, anthropology, business, education, economics, history, geography, cultural studies, linguistics, environmental and
conservation sciences, animal welfare, communications and media studies, political science
and public policy and administration. We recognize that's a mouthful! So in an attempt to explain GE3LS research in more
dynamic terms, we asked a few students across the country what GE3LS research means to them.
The animated banner you see at the top of this page contains some of the descriptive words we
heard, and represents one take at describing GE3LS. If there are descriptors you think
are missing, please let us know.
