elcome to Genome Canada's GE³LS webpage. GE³LS stands for genomics and its related ethical, environmental, economic, legal and social aspects. GE³LS research complements genomics research by addressing questions that lie at the interface between science and society. GE³LS research is carried out by academic researchers from an ever-expanding range of social science and humanities-related disciplines, including: sociology, law, philosophy, bioethics, religion, anthropology, business, education, economics, history, geography, cultural studies, linguistics, environmental and conservation sciences, animal welfare, communications and media studies, political science and public policy and administration. We recognize that's a mouthful! So in an attempt to explain GE³LS research in more dynamic terms, we asked a few students across the country what GE³LS research means to them. The animated banner you see at the top of this page contains some of the descriptive words we heard, and represents one take at describing GE³LS.
