Canada GE3LS
Research Projects on the Societal Aspects of Genomics
In an effort to increase knowledge and understanding about GE3LS research in Canada,
Genome Canada has commissioned the Centre for Genomics and Policy at McGill University to develop a publicly-accessible database that
contains basic information on Canadian GE3LS-related research projects in the health,
agricultural, fisheries, forestry and environmental sectors. The purpose of this national database is to offer
genomics researchers, GE3LS researchers, policy-makers and other interested
users with relevant information about ongoing and past GE3LS research in
Canada since 2005. Genome Canada, in collaboration with the regional Genome Centres and the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) Institute of Genetics, is endeavoring to make this database as
comprehensive as possible, and projects are being added on an annual basis.
By making this searchable database publicly available on Genome Canada's webpage, our goals are to facilitate:
- research integration between genomics scientists and GE3LS-related disciplines,
- networking and team-building among GE3LS researchers themselves, and
- knowledge dissemination about GE3LS research to relevant end-users, including policy-makers, media, technology users and the general public.
