The Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada Announces Funding for 2015 Privacy Research Symposium

Monday, June 23, 2014

The Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (OPC) has issued a call for proposals seeking applicants to organize and host the next event in the Pathways to Privacy Research Symposium series.

The series, introduced in 2012, showcases privacy-related research and public education projects funded by the Office’s Contributions Program and other relevant funders. It is designed to generate privacy awareness and discussion by bringing together a wide variety of potential end-users, including academia, government, private sector, parliamentarians, non-profit organizations and privacy regulators.

The OPC is currently inviting non-profit organizations eligible under its Contributions Program to submit proposals to organize and host an event to be held between January 15 and March 31, 2015. The proposed event must be consistent with the series’ goal of increasing awareness of the outcomes of privacy research and public education projects in Canada. It should also aim to facilitate a dialogue between the people who do research, and those who can apply it in the private or public sectors. There is a maximum of $50,000 available for this initiative.

Eligible organizations must submit proposals in accordance with the established parameters, as outlined in the Call for Proposals and the Applicant’s Guide, by Monday, June 30, 2014.
