Cancer Stem Cell Consortium Welcomes Stand Up to Cancer Canada

Initiative aimed at ending cancer's reign as leading cause of death

Ottawa, Ontario, July 9, 2014 — Members of the Cancer Stem Cell Consortium (CSCC) today welcomed the announcement of a new Canadian initiative to fight cancer and the unveiling of plans for a major televised fundraising event to take place on September 5.

Genome Canada’s Chair Lorne Hepworth to join Canadian Agricultural Hall of Fame in 2014

Lorne Hepworth, who has served as Chair of Genome Canada’s Board of Directors since September 2012, will become an inductee to the Canadian Agricultural Hall of Fame through a formal ceremony scheduled to take place on November 9, 2014 in Toronto. He is one of three accomplished ambassadors for Canadian agriculture who will join the ranks of this prestigious association this year.

Genome Canada, in partnership with the Western Grains Research Foundation (WGRF), today launched a Request for Applications for the 2014 Large-Scale Applied Research Project Competition: Genomics and Feeding the Future. The Competition will support research projects that will create new knowledge and inform public policy for Canada’s agri-food and fisheries & aquaculture sectors and contribute solutions that can help feed the world’s growing population.
