In 2015, Genome Canada, in partnership with the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR), launched the 2015 Bioinformatics and Computational Biology Competition. This competition followed on the 2012 B/CB Competition.
A total of $4 million is being invested in 16 projects at academic institutions across Canada. They are expected to produce next-generation tools and methodologies to deal with the influx of large amounts of data produced by modern genomics technologies, and will provide broad access to these tools to the research community.
