Genome Canada Annual Report 2016-17 45 Genome Canada’s operating costs were $6.8 million in 2016-17. Operations include activities relating to genomics programs, strategy, fundraising, communications, governance, performance and evaluation, genomics in society and administration. Genome Canada’s operating costs include the following statement of remuneration. The board of directors and committee members do not receive remuneration for their services; however, Genome Canada pays the expenses incurred by directors in the performance of their duties. For staff of Genome Canada, there is a compensation policy that includes job classifications and related salary ranges. Genome Canada employees are eligible for performance awards of up to 25 per cent. These investments are administered in accordance with the board of directors’ approved investment policy and in accordance with the terms and conditions of the contribution agreement with the federal government. The investment policy remained unchanged this past fiscal year.
